HAPPY SPRING!

At 6:44 a.m. Central, the sun made it's way across the earth's equator. Days are getting longer now, and I'm hearing more birds in the morning. The sun is making its path higher and higher in the sky, which is making even the coldest of air masses no match to its warmth. The polar front is retreating to the north, and daytime instability will breed some intense storms in the near future.

I made sure to pack my camera this morning before heading to school. I've always wanted to snap some pictures during the equinox on the road by the school. It is an east-west road, and I love to watch the sun's shifting positions as it rises in different places throughout the year.

WxWatcher, great photo set, and clever idea! This morning up here we had temps in the low 20's and a solid layer of frost on everything. The Cardinals were very loud while I brought the trash to the road around 6am.

Oddly enough, the OSNW3 Winter Duration formulas mark Mar 20, 2009 the last day of Winter for this 2008/2009 season!

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I was excited to take those pictures, and was hoping for a clear morning (or at least one with some high clouds to the east). We've been having some awesome sunrises and sunsets lately with the high clouds and smoke in the air. Seems everyone has been burning this week!

Are you Wisconsinites due for storms next week? It's supposed to be pretty active down here.

Great news! On the last day of Winter here at OSNW3 and the first day of Spring astronomically, we got 1.0" of snow overnight! The first Spring snow of the year... it didn't take long. :)

Did you get much rain yesterday? I still don't have my rain gauge up, so I don't know how much we got. It rained pretty hard for a good 2 hours or so. However, no flooding, and I don't think the spring-fed creek behind my bank rose much at all.

Hope you are having a great week!!

Ami, at school we had 0.96". I wasn't able to check the house gauge before I left because I woke up late...it's been one of those days.
