What Month is This?

It seems October and November made a switch this year.  What an amazing shift in weather!  The month of October, with its 12.49" precip total, under average temperatures, and even some snow to the upper midwest, gave way to the most pleasant beginning to November I can remember.  The past 9 days have simply been a delight.  We have enjoyed dry weather, sunny skies, and above-average temps every day so far.

We have gone 11 days now without any measurable precipitation, which is the first time since February 25th of this year.  With a 40% chance of showers today, we might be able to extend this dry spell even longer.

I don't mind, as long as it gets cold and nasty by the time deer season rolls around.

Things are flip flopping, that is certain. Summer came in June and September, Fall was July, August, and October. November feels like late September... :)

You can throw out the 30 year averages and the 100+ years of long term data... it means nothing when mother nature does what she wants, when she wants.

I am all for it.

Good point. Makes me wonder what this winter will bring. I'm really excited for it.

Speaking of winter, the NWS STL office wrote up a stellar piece on the effect past El Nino events in our area, plus a prediction of this year's winter. Check it out.

BTW, I got the anemometer and outdoor temp. sensor outside this morning at school. You can view real-time data on Weather Underground and PWSWeather.com It's been quite windy this morning!
