January 10-11 Snow

Snow fell again in mid-Missouri, and it's a beautiful sight.  Around 11:00 am, light snow began to fall, and throughout the day, we experienced steady moderate snowfall, tapering to light snow by evening and finally ending around 3:00 a.m.  This morning, the 11th, we have frigid air spilling in.  Currently it is 12° with a wind chill reading around 5.

Can I assume you got the Interwebs again? Or are you at the library? Or are you blogging from your smart phone? Regardless, WxWatcher, it's snowing! Will it continue and delay school tomorrow morning?

School has officially been called off for tomorrow. We just celebrated by finishing "True Grit", the John Wayne version.

Internet is back up at the new household! I've got some catching up to do, but I'm excited to get the weather station back up, and hopefully find a less protected place to install the anemometer. (I'm eyeing the roof ;o) For the time being, I'm using Columbia's NWS station for my temperature data.

The snow looks great. Reminds me of the Wisconsin snows I see on your web cam.

Glad to read you had a snow day! Great photo addition to the entry. I like your wood pile. It also looks like you moved out of the burbs...

Thanks OSNW3. There are definitely more photo opportunities where we live now. Had some big 2' drifts on the side of our house once the wind picked up.

I thought of you on Tuesday. Smoked my first chicken outside in a fresh snow pack. I've never done that before, and I remember you commenting on grilling in the winter. It's a different experience!

Snow and lots of it - great. I just got back from a road trip down to AZ with my son. He is staying attending a Law Enforcement training session at NAU. I get home and its warm with rain - go figure.

Looks like a new home so get that WX station set up and enjoy. Are you still at the same school?

Hope you enjoyed the trip to AZ. Isn't your son interested in forestry, too? I hope he enjoys the training down there.

I'm actually surprised that I haven't climed on my roof yet to get the new station up yet. My CoCoRaHS gauge is up and has been for a while, but with all the other 'projects' I just haven't done that one.

Looks like more snow headed our way for Thursday! This has turned out to be a great winter.

I've posted a few photos of the trip. They were taken at Bryce Canyon NP. He's following, at least for now, his Dad's career with the park service.

You said "new" wx station? It a new rig? Get that wx station up though be safe!

Ha! Not sure why I inserted that word "new". Wishful thinking on my part no doubt :) No, it's my old one, but in a new location. Once the roof thaws and we get a warm day I'll get up there.
