A Soggy Eight Days

May has been tricky this year.  We started out with clear blue skies, and for the most part above average temperatures.  But the last eight days have been a much different story.  While it hasn't come in abundance each day, it has rained on and off - sometimes very heavy, sometimes just a steady mist.  But the fact remains that it has soaked us.  The eight day total is 3.45", which is 69% of our May average.

Some Mid-May Stats:
(May 1 - 17)

Mean Temp:  59° (2.6°)

Precip Total:  3.69"

Days With Thunder:  7
Days With Fog:  3
Days With Wind Gust (>= 20 mph):  5

As of today, I've mowed the lawn 4 times.  The chives are looking beautiful - I'll have pictures of them on my monthly summary.  Not a cloud in the sky today...I'm looking for some time to dry out!

I was just telling my father in-law that his area of MO gets way more rain per year than Oshkosh. Heck, you're an inch above us and only at 69% of average. Proof positive.

No thunder up here yet in May. No real fog either. Man I need to get that windometer up, eh?! UGH. Not this weekend. Headed to the Upper Peninsula for a 3 day golf tournament. Perfect weather on tap.

It's about to get hot here. Forecast for early next week has highs in the low 80's sun, mon, tue, and beyond maybe. UGH. 80's three days in a row, with lows in the low 60's... UGH.

LOL, I'm looking forward to the warm up. Don't get me wrong, I like the chilly temps, but I've been feeling like a caveman lately!

Have fun at the UP!

Looks like you have the opposite of what we've been having - warmer and drier here. We did get a nice little bout of rain yesteday.

How's the 'warm-up' treating you?

It's wonderful. I spent all day Monday getting the yard back in shape, and the garden is all planted. My arms are as red as tomatoes, though...why is it that I am always 'surprised' when I get a sunburn??

Workin' my summer job now, working off those winter pounds!

How was the golf tournament at the UP??

WxWatcher, the UP always impresses. You can certainly tell that there is a major drought going on up there. Weird to see the trees look like it's autumn in spring. My wife has school until June 11... what's your summer job?

Glad you enjoyed the UP. Seems that area through NW Wisconsin has suffered for a while from dry weather. Hope things turn on for them soon.

I forgot you guys go so late (for me) before releasing the kids for summer. When do they start school in the fall? Our first day is usually mid August.

This is my third summer working at a local college doing custodial work. I enjoy the physical labor and having someone tell me what to do all day. It's a nice break.

WxWatcher, I like it. Kids here start first week of September. The rain barrel is in and working.
